As one of the early proponents of ecoroofs, MZLA designed a 400-square-foot green roof which sits atop the kitchen addition of a private residence. Planted with drought tolerant sedum, it provides year round interest from the rooms that overlook it. If designed and planted correctly, ecoroofs can provide better insulation, cut heat and air-conditioning bills, double the life of the roof membrane, filter the air, and create small habitats for insects and birds.
